NEW RIDER COURSE: WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a 21-hour class designed for someone who has never ridden before or someone who hasn’t ridden in a long time.
When you take a New Rider Course at the Riding Academy you will:
- Learn to ride on a genuine Harley-Davidson® motorcycle.
- Get in-class and on-range instruction from Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) and H-D® Certified Coaches.
- Earn an MSF Basic RiderCourse SM Completion Card, which may (varies by state) exempt you from the riding portion of your license exam and score you a discount on motorcycle insurance.
You’ll learn advanced tips and techniques to help you own the road.
- Control at low speeds
- Risk management
- Limited-space maneuvers
- Cornering judgment
- Swerving and stopping quickly on straights and in curves
- Multiple curve maneuvers and surmounting objects
NEW RIDER COURSE FAQS
What will I need to register?
You’ll need a valid automobile drivers license, or learners permit and have the ability to ride a bicycle.
Do I need any special gear?
You’ll need to bring the following: A heavy, long-sleeve shirt or jacket, Jeans, chaps, or leather pants. Over-the-ankle, sturdy footwear.
Full-fingered gloves. A helmet that meets DOT requirements, and Eye wear.
INTERMEDIATE RIDER COURSE: WHAT TO EXPECT
This course is designed for EXPERIENCED riders who wish to enhance their riding skills or licensed riders who wish to meet the criteria for Nebraska law to be able to ride without a helmet in Nebraska.

Intermediate Rider Course Details:
- 11 hours of class and riding time
- Range and Classroom are right here at Dillon Brothers Harley-Davidson and Motorsports
- Maximum of 10 students per class
- 2 Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and Riding Academy certified Instructors
- Intermediate Rider Courses will be $250

When you complete this course not only will you be able to ride with more confidence, but upon successful completion you will receive an MSF Basic Rider course 2 completion card. That card may qualify you for a discount on your motorcycle insurance.
INTERMEDIATE RIDER COURSE FAQ’S
What will I need to register?
A licensed and insured motorcycle, as well as a valid state driver’s license with or without motorcycle endorsement
Do I need any special gear?
You’ll need to bring the following: A heavy, long-sleeve shirt or jacket, Jeans, chaps, or leather pants. Over-the-ankle, sturdy footwear. Full-fingered gloves. A helmet that meets DOT requirements. Eye wear.
ADVENTURE TOURING RIDER COURSE
This course is for owners of an Adventure Bike (ADV) or Dual-Purpose (DP) motorcycle who wish to learn basic fundamental skills for riding their motorcycle off-road.
Adventure Touring Course Details:
- 6 Hours of range time at Dillon Brothers off-road range.
- MSF & Riding Academy certified instructors experienced in off-road riding.
- Students MUST possess a valid operator’s license with motorcycle endorsement.
- Students MUST have their own Adventure (ADV) or Dual Sport (DS) motorcycle.
- Opportunity to try out the Harley-Davidson Pan AM adventure bike.
This single-day course includes riding and discussions on a dirt training range. This includes riding on low-traction surfaces with an emphasis on body positioning and rider-active control techniques needed for off-road environments. Adventure Touring riding requires a specific set of skills that are different than riding a street motorcycle.
A motorcycle license is REQUIRED, but no off-road riding experience is necessary.
Bring your own ADV or DP to the class or rent one of ours for an additional cost.
