NEW RIDER COURSE: WHAT TO EXPECT
When you take a New Rider Course at the Riding Academy you will;
- Learn to ride on a genuine Harley-Davidson® motorcycle.
- Get in-class and on-range instruction from Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) and H-D® Certified Coaches.
- Learn to safely accelerate, shift, brake, and turn, along with maneuvers like controlling skids and surmounting obstacles.
- Earn an MSF Basic RiderCourseSM Completion Card, which may (varies by state) exempt you from the riding portion of your license exam and score you a discount on motorcycle insurance.
NEW RIDER COURSE FAQS
What will I need to register?
You’ll need a valid automobile drivers license or learners permit, and have the ability to ride a bicycle.
Do I need any special gear?
You’ll need to bring the following:
- A heavy, long-sleeve shirt or jacket
- Jeans, chaps, or leather pants
- Over-the-ankle, sturdy footwear
- Full-fingered gloves
- A helmet that meets DOT requirements
- Eye wear
SKILLED RIDER COURSE: WHAT TO EXPECT
Designed solely for experienced riders, this eight-hour 1- or 2-day course is taught by dedicated Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) and H-D® Certified Coaches. Feel like you’re somewhere in between a new rider and a skilled rider?

Skilled Rider Course Details:
- 8 hours of class and riding time
- Range and Classroom are right here at Dillon Brothers Harley-Davidson and Motorsports
- Maximum of 10 students per class
- 2 Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and Riding Academy certified Instructors
- Skilled Rider Courses will be $150

- Control at low speeds

When you’re done, you’ll not only ride with more confidence than ever, you’ll earn an MSF Basic RiderCourseSM 2 Completion Card that may qualify you for a discount on motorcycle insurance.

ADVENTURE TOURING RIDER COURSE
This course is for owners of an Adventure Bike (ADV) or Dual-Purpose (DP) motorcycle who wish to learn basic fundamental skills for riding their motorcycle off-road.

Adventure Touring Course Details:
- 6 Hours of range time at Dillon Brothers off-road range.
- MSF & Riding Academy certified instructors experienced in off-road riding.
- Students MUST possess a valid operators license with motorcycle endorsement.
- Students MUST have their own Adventure (ADV) or Dual Sport (DS) motorcycle.
- Opportunity to try out the Harley-Davidson Pan AM adventure bike.

This single-day course includes riding and discussions on a dirt training range. This includes riding on low-traction surfaces with an emphasis on body positioning and rider-active control techniques needed for off-road environments. Adventure Touring riding requires a specific set of skills that are different than riding a street motorcycle.
A motorcycle license is REQUIRED, but no off-road riding experience is necessary.
Bring your own ADV or DP to the class or rent one of ours for an additional cost.
